Have a taste of Real and Authentic Ramen without going to Japan.. you can find the real taste of Tomachan Ramen Express on the 11th floor of LKG Tower, Ayala Avenue in Makati.  (Photos & Videos Credited to Teddy Cho)

It was known as the Japanese homemade Traditional Ramen.. and has its own Chinese origins. The main two theories are: that it came from the Chinese term 'la mian', meaning 'handmade noodles', or from the term lao mian, which literally meant ancient noodles'. Other names for Ramen are 'shina soba' and the more common 'chuko suba'.
In 1945,  returnees from China began opening Ramen stalls throughout the whole country. Ramen was cheap, delicious, and nutritious, so it became a household name for fulfilling the needs of the poor and the needy era.
Japanese Restaurants specializing in Ramen are very common in Japan. Some of them have tables that faced or surrounded the kitchen space; so that you can see the Chefs working while enjoying your Ramen noodles. The main ingredients of Ramen are wheat noodles and broth. The noodles are usually made of wheat flour, eggs, water, salt, and 'kansui' (a kind of mineral water).
The soup is usually made with chicken or pork stock. Common Ramen ingredients are shiitake mushrooms, katsuobushi (skipjack tuna flakes), kombu (kelp), niboshi (dried baby sardines), beef bones, and onions. Soy sauce and miso are used to flavor the soup.
A lot of toppings can be added to the soup, like sliced pork meat, leek, boiled eggs, nori, corn, butter, and others.
Nowadays Ramen is incredibly popular and many regions have created their own unique variety. Here are some of them:
1. Sapporo Ramen  2. Kitakata Ramen  3.Yokohama Ramen  4.Tokyo Ramen  and 5. Hakata Ramen.
Please remember to make loud slurping sounds while eating Ramen because, in Japan, it’s considered to be an art of appreciation for the meal! Here comes the beginning of the era of the Ramen Empire Journey.
A BIT OF HISTORY OF RAMEN
The first time a Japanese person tasted Chinese noodles was in the Year 1665 in the domain of Hitachi Mito Domain in Tokugawa Shogunate in Northern Japan. It was the second Daimyo of the area, Tokugawa Mitsukuni. There are records of Confucian scholar Zhu Zhiyu who was a friend of Mitsukuni, bringing back the soup and noodles on his own turf. The dish was also created and recorded as Mitohan Ramen and it can be eaten in Ramen Restaurants throughout Mito-Shi in Ibaraki and soon it became popular.

TOMOCHAN RAMEN EXPRESS was founded and organized by Ms. AKIKO OKAMOTO (President and CEO). She wants to share authentic Japanese delight and taste with the Filipino community and to the rest of the world at a very reasonable price without sacrificing its quality and taste. Ms. Okamoto took the bold step of the journey by opening its first store in Angeles City, Pampanga on July 2017. She believes that Tomochan Ramen Express will be the New 'Daily Ramen' that every individual would consider as their ultimate comfort food.
The company thought of something new that will be endeared to the public as 'Solid Friendship' and a bond of endearment.

BINONDO-INTRAMUROS BRIDGE TO SERVE 30,000 MOTORISTS IS NOW OPEN

Binondo-Intramuros Friendship Bridge

China’s latest GIFT 3.5 billion pesos Friendship Bridge for the Filipino people!

China-donated Binondo-Intramuros Friendship Bridge is the first bridge to directly connect the 400-year-old Intramuros with Binondo, the world's oldest Chinatown, over the Pasig River.

Gave jobs to hundreds of Filipinos even during the pandemic and trained countless Filipino engineering students during its construction.

The Friendship Bridge will serve over 30,000 motorists every day, with a protected bike lane and walkway areas promoting a healthier lifestyle for generations of Filipinos! China Road & Bridge Corporation (CRBC) used advanced technology for the construction of the 734-meter-long, basket-handle tied steel arch bridge that spans 21m wide, with four lanes in total.

Duterte said the China-donated bridge will give Filipinos the chance to experience economic growth and enhanced productivity.

The Bridge shows that the Philippines is working together towards greener, more sustainable and climate change resistance infrastructure for generations to come, Duterte added.

This will infuse new energy and vitality into Intramuros and Binondo… Promoting more tourism, business opportunities, and friendship among the Filipino people.

The Binondo Intramuros Bridge is one of the two bridges donated by China during President Duterte's term.

The other China-donated bridge is the futuristic Estrella-Pantaleon bridge connecting Mandaluyong and Makati. The two bridges are worth over 5 billion... Given the prevailing rise in construction prices worldwide, the 2 bridges are estimated to be already worth over 8 billion pesos today!

China also donated 10,000 tons of rice for the poor communities around the Philippines including for the typhoon victims, over 5 million vaccines (on top of 50 million rushed-delivered), and billions more in medical supplies, among many other assistances.

Binondo-Intramuros Bridge taken at night time.

The bridge marks the 16th government to government project completed between China and the Philippines since 2016, said Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian.

"Filipinos would enjoy more benefits from China-Philippines friendly cooperation," said DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said.

The Bridge is another testament to the centuries-long bond between the Filipino and Chinese people, which was further enriched under the visionary leadership of President Duterte and President Xi Jinping. (VerGarciaBlogs)

LILAC CENTER COMMENDS THE PHILIPPINE OVERSEAS LABOR OFFICE (POLO) IN HONGKONG CANCELLATION

Former Undersecretary of Labor Nicon Fameronag with his staff at Lilac Center and acted as Emcee at the event held at the New World Hotel in CCP Complex in Pedro Gil St., Manila,  Philippines.

Lilac Center commends Bello for cancellation of POLO-Hong Kong online system deal Nicon F. Fameronag, president of Lilac Center for Public Interest, yesterday welcomed the decision of Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III to cancel the service agreement on the online system for contract submission, processing, credentialing, welfare protection and data storage entered into between the Philippine Overseas Labor Office and an upstart Hong Kong service provider, Polaris Pools Ltd.

“The Lilac Center commends Secretary Bello for his decision. It vindicates our expose of this deal which was obviously done in haste, under a cloud of secrecy, and with complete disregard of the procurement and data privacy laws of the Philippines under whose jurisdiction the POLO Hong Kong rightly belongs,” Fameronag said in a statement. Secretary Bello’s decision came after he directed DOLE Undersecretary Claro Arellano and two other DOLE Officials to conduct an investigation of the deal.
Former Labor Usec. Nicon Fameronag in a huddle with his staff.

It was the Lilac Center that first brought to public light the aborted deal. In its recommendation, the investigation team said the “procurement” of the database system Polaris Tools Ltd., was done without public bidding on a grave disregard of the procedures of the Philippine procurement law.” This is a triumph of vigilant citizen advocacy in which the Lilac Center is a leading activist, Fameronag said. “Bello’s decision will serve a warning to all DOLE labor attaches that they are subject to the control and supervision of the DOLE secretary and, therefore, they could not just implement any program in the posts without his knowledge and approval”, Fameronag thus ended. PASEI PRESS CONFERENCE..  In photo from (Left to Right) Madam Elsa U. Villa, President Philippine Association of Service Exporters, Inc. with colleagues. (Photo by: Teddy Cho)

Here's good news.. The President of the Philippine Association of Service Exporter, Inc. (PASEI), Ms. Elsa U. Villa, in a Press Conference at the Century Park Sheraton in Manila, reported a tremendous successful Marketing Mission at the Central Europe conducted recently at the Banahaw Suite in Century Hotel. Together with the 22 members of the mission which accomplished their Prime objective during a 19-day period to Strengthen and enhance the New markets for OFW's in Czech Republic, Poland, Croatia, Slovakia. The 3rd Marketing Mission in Central Europe confirms that the demand for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW's) in the European countries are of factual basis and has a foundation and process in it's follow-through marketing mission to the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany and Austria as well. Furthermore, according to President Elsa U. Villa, this new emerging labor markets for the Filipinos have a lot to be explored and their Labor and Immigration Laws needs to be studied, until these countries on their part are consistently expressing their desire to hire more Filipinos. The Philippine Licensed Agency owners as of this writing can not fast track the hiring and deployment of OFW's primarily because of not being acquainted with the markets. In this aspect, President Elsa U. Villa is impelling the Government to provide a collaborative support to open up the European Labor Markets for Filipinos. Government assistance could be in the form of establishing: 1.) Philippine Overseas Labor Offices in some of the countries 2.) Relaxing or doing away with redundant rules not compatible with High Labor Standards of the European Union and 3.) Initiating discussions that could lead to the establishment of Bilateral Labor Agreements.

In a Press briefing, Mrs. Villa also mentioned Poland, Czech Republic and Croatia as among the countries with a firm demand for the skilled OFW's. In Croatia, the mission was able to establish key entry points for OFW's in the markets with an estimated demand for 10,000 workers in the service and reception industry, which includes Hotels, Resorts, Gaming Facilities and Restaurant, it was the result of another round of talks with officials of the Labor ministries of the different European countries.

In that said press conference PASEI reiterated the call to establish a Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO). The call transpires from the desire of workers, employers and recruitment agencies in the region and in the Philippines to establish a POLO in either Czech Republic, Poland or in Munich, Germany which will eventually cater to the need to facilitate the sending and documenting of OFW's in Central Europe. In a letter addressed to Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Chief Bernard P. Olalia, PASEI is requesting Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to convene the Technical Working Group (TWG) on Czech concerns created by DOLE Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III under Administrative Order No.19 Letter S of 2018 and to involve PASEI and other Stakeholders in the TWG  discussions. PASEI reiterated the call for DOLE to expand the coverage of the TWG that will include other countries which have exhibited their desire to hire well trained OFWs, such countries as Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia, Hungary  and Montenegro.

This government support can be in the form of establishing POLO offices in some of the countries; relaxing or doing away redundant rules not compatible with the high Labor standards of the European Union and initiating discussions that could lead to the establishment of bilateral labor agreement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prior to the establishment of POLO in Central Europe, the TWG should have begun discussion on the Duties and Responsibilities involving the deployment of  Filipino workers to the Czech Republic: 1.) Formulation and Negotiation of the proposed Bilateral labor agreement between these countries  2.) Establishment of the Program of Actions and Mechanics of consultations 3.)
